New member: Russian World Music Awards Festival

The Russian World Music Awards is the first professional award in Russia in the field of ethnic music. Last year, 90 musical groups from 27 cities were presented to the jury. Voting was held with 12 judges, consisting of experts in the field of ethnic music from 9 countries.

For three years now, founders of the Russian World Music Awards, Natalia Myazina and Daryana Antipova, have been supporting and motivating professional musicians whose work does not fit into the modern standard of popular music, but draws inspiration from the deep traditions of Russian ethnic culture.

The mission of the award is the development of world and ethnic music in Russia and abroad, improving the image of Russia in the modern world, and fostering good international ties, by promoting its rich and vibrant Culture, Music, History and Art.

Member Meeting & AGM 2019

The Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals will hold it's Annual General Meeting and Member Meeting on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of February 2019. For this special occasion we'll meet in Paris, France.

Apart from our own meetings, we will;

- visit Le 360, is a new cultural utopia and augmented innovation space. A place for creation, recording, production, and broadcasting

- Take part in the first MusiConnect France. MusiConnect is an international networking initiative. It is a group of broadcasters and promotion networks organized in local, regional and national subnetworks. 

- In the evenings we'll go to the concerts of Au Fil des Voix. A fantastic festival with the best voices of the world.

25 years ago, EFWMF started as a network to connect, learn and exchange between European organizers and promoters of global music and cultures.

This member-driven network now has over 50 members spread out over Europe and - YES! - beyond.
Our new, mostly non-european members have opened up new and exciting opportunities for all, and have confronted us with the uselessness of eurocentricity.

Going global offers even more exciting collaborations, real connections between festivals and inspiring moments of reflection on an equal level.
Inspiration, debate on an equal level and joining forces was exactly what we needed in this challenging time.
That is why we decided to drop the “E” where it belongs: as part of history, and become a borderless network.

The FWMF now actively looks for exciting festivals worldwide who want to connect with others.

The FWMF will be at Womex (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria/Spain, october 24-28 2018)
and at Visa For Music (Rabat/Morocco, november 21-24 2018).

New member: Havana World Music Festival

We're very proud to announce our newest member: Havana World Music Festival!

The festival Havana World Music (HWM) is a musical and cultural event that shows the richness of the diversity and mix of the location where it takes place: Havana, Cuba. 

In only 4 editions, HWM became one of the most important festivals of the country.
