6th edition of Choro Jazz Festival

The 6th edition of the Choro Jazz Festival comes consolidated on the musical circuit. It will be performed in Fortaleza, before heading to the beautiful and paradisiacal Jericoacoara beach, where the festival presents its traditional musical week including renowned musicians from the worldwide musical scene in its line up. The Choro Jazz Festival, which is totally free, takes place from November 27th to 29th at Centro Cultural Dragão do Mar in Fortaleza and from December 2nd to 7th at Jericoacoara’s Main Square.

It will provide a musical overview that will transition between different Brazilian states, Portugal and Italy thus composing a rare and fruitful score to be covered by the public during intense days filled with a musical atmosphere. The approach of musical the genres that baptize the festival brings the exchange between musicians and styles providing the audacity of sound experimentation, improvisation and virtuosity; a graceful and especially tricky musical experience. The audience is presented with a musical landscape full of nuances, diversified accents and styles; a repertoire that is rarely included in the seasons of traditional shows.

Visa For Music + membermeeting

Join us at Visa For Music next week!
Visa For Music aims to create a professional platform for music and enforce creativity and professionalisation of the cultural industry on the African Continent and in the Middle East.

Visa For Music (VFM) is the first professional market of Africa and Middle-East musics. The project is born from a paradox : on the one hand, the lack –or even the absence- of visibility of African and Middle Eastern artists at an international level and, on the other hand, there is a presence of a very important artistic dynamism and musical creation that these musicians need to be recognized for.

So, Visa For Music aims at highlighting African and Middle Eastern artists.

Visa For Music is an essential and major meeting place for professionals of the whole music industry, whoever they are and wherever they are from. Visa For Music aims to be a sharing platform for the defense and promotion of the musical sector of African and Middle Eastern countries.

The European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals will hold its next membermeeting at Visa For Music, in Rabat. We will as well have a trade fair stand.

17th Fira Mediterrània Manresa

The 17th Fira Mediterrània Manresa is nearly upon us. From 9 to 12 October, the capital city of the Bages region will once again become the cultural nerve centre of Catalonia, hosting more than 300 artistic, professional and city-orientated activities for four days. It is expected that some 100,000 people will attend the event.

This year, Fira undergoes notable developments. The event will take place earlier -until now it had been held in early November- and it is defined by a renewed vision, that is open to, and inclusive of, popular culture. Fira has decided to modernise its structure, based on the fundamental question: what is popular culture today? Video games and traditional formats; urban art and circus; new types of performing arts, street theatre and festival tradition. All of this encapsulates the popular culture of our times, without forgetting community-based performing arts projects that reflect the great and collective transformative capacity of culture, which connect culture with social inclusion, health and education.

The artistic programme, which includes 107 companies and thirty-five premieres, is still firmly committed to Mediterranean music, an area in which Fira has become a solid European benchmark over the years.
