A new member : Timitar, the international Amazigh (Berber) Feast 

in Agadir – Morocco (7-10 July 2010)

Timitar, the Amazigh & world music festival, was born in July 2004 in Agadir, capital of Souss Massa Drâa Region (Morocco). Since its inception, the audience’s passion for the artists and programme of this prominent event has grown to form an intense spirit distinct to this festival.

The quality of invited artists, both Moroccan and international, along with the extremely warm welcome of the audience and the media are evidence that what was at first an adventure has now become a notable event, which celebrates today its 7th year of existence.
The 2010 Timitar edition was held from 7 till 10 July and signfied a focal point in the cultural and festive life of Agadir and the South of Morocco.

Every year, Timitar festival presents the best of traditional and contemporary repertoires from different parts of the globe. Held at three open-air stages, located in different venues of Agadir city, the audience is invited to structure their own experience of the diverse musical experience on offer. The events of each evening commence with an Amazigh traditional group, exhibiting the dynamic artistry of the Souss Massa Drâa Region.

The diverse line up of the Timitar festival (Julien Marley, Amazigh, Ali Campbell, Hindi Zara, Mounira Mitchala,  Tres Coronas…etc.) holds strong to spirit of plurality inherent in world music and the Amazigh musical tradition.
